A few months ago we had our Vietnamese engagement party and it was the first time our families have officially met! We had the ceremony at my mom’s house in Orange County and it was wonderful to share a piece of my culture with Jason’s family. I wished my Dad was still here to be a part of it, but we honored him during the ceremony and I know he’s watching down from heaven and giving us his blessing.

In keeping with tradition, Jason’s family brought gifts to my mom and I wore a custom made red lace traditional Vietnamese dress, an Ao Dai. Afterwards, we gathered at Brodard Chateau for a delicious Vietnamese dinner. We loved celebrating with everyone and can’t wait for more phamily fun times!

Special thanks to my mom for hosting the ceremony at her house, Jason’s family for traveling all the way from Dallas & San Francisco, my sisters and bridesmaids for helping out and David Do for capturing some unforgettable moments for us!

Yup! It’s really happening!!! If you haven’t guessed, by now - we are getting married in FRANCE!!!! Jason and I have been lucky enough to have visited Paris 3x together already and every time we go, we are more and more enamored with the city! All of the lights, architecture, streets, etc… are just so beautiful and we couldn’t imagine any place more romantic or meaningful to us! We wanted to have a wedding where our closest family + friends could celebrate with us and truly make it a vacation with everyone we love. Jason and I couldn’t believe the overwhelming support from our family + friends and everyone’s excitement for our big day. We are so unbelievably blessed! We would also like to apologize in advance that we could not invite an unlimited number of guests to join us in France. We thank you for everyone’s continued love and support! Merci!

Side note: Paris was actually the place Jason first told me “i love you” (cue the “awwws”) so I can’t wait for it to be the place where we finally say “i do”!

Be sure to keep checking the blog for more updates because we only have about 4 months to go now! Cue the panic attack! How do you say help in French?!

Sorry we have been behind on blogging! We started diving into wedding planning and finally got some time to catch everyone up!

I guess it’s only appropriate to reveal how the proposal happened! I always hoped that Jason would propose in 2012 - it just felt like we at the right time in our lives and our relationship for it to happen. With the holiday coming, I started to feel like maybe it wouldn’t happen until 2013 so I kind of just trusted in the fact that I knew we were on the right path together. We planned on spending Christmas Eve with Jason’s family in Texas and flying back to spend Christmas Day with mine in California. Jason told me that a wedding industry holiday party was happening on the Thursday we would be there and to pack some nice clothes to wear. And I’m glad I did! Thursday rolled around and we actually spend the afternoon editing and doing work at Starbucks. I was excited to meet more Dallas wedding peeps that evening. I had been to an event before and I remembered there were only light appetizers. So being the cranky, hungry lil’ person I am, I asked if we could stop at McDonald’s on the way to the event. (See a trend with McDonald’s here?). In our classy attire, we snacked on fries and chatted while driving in traffic to the Reunion Tower in downtown Dallas. Jason wasn’t acting any weirder than he usual does so I still didn’t suspect a thing. When we arrived, a hostess greeted us and told us the “Thursday Therapy Party” was upstairs in the observation area. I still didn’t suspect a thing. When the elevator opened and we walked into an open space, the first thing I saw were lots and lots of candles. And that’s when I knew. (I have watched The Bachelor way too many times). I also saw our photographer friends, Cesar and Tanya (thank you so much - love you guys) in the corner. Jason led me around the rose petaled path, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I of course said yes and couldn’t stop the tears from coming. I waited my whole life for this moment with this man and I thank God everyday that I have him in my life. I honestly don’t remember much of what he said because I was so taken aback in that moment. It took me a while to see the ring too since my eyes were full of tears. It was beautiful and exactly what I always wanted (like him :)). And then out of the corner, Meaghan (one of our awesome wedding coordinators) brings an iPAD to me and shows me that my mom, sister, brother-in-law and nephew have been watching the whole time! They congratulated us and made the moment all that more special! Cesar and Tanya had us pose for pictures, which we felt so awkward doing and which we realize now we need A LOT of practice on. Afterwards, Jason had another surprise for me - dinner at one of my favorite Dallas restaurants, La Duni with his parents and friends. It was an amazing evening and I know just the start of an amazing life together!

my photos

my photos
